Wix local business structured data: check the preset first

Wix can already publish local-business information on your homepage. Before pasting in a generated schema block, check the preset and the business details feeding it. The best improvement may be correcting one inaccurate field rather than adding a competing description of the same business.

Understand what Wix creates

Wix documents that adding a business name and location to Business Info can create Local Business markup for the homepage. Its preset uses details such as the business name, URL, logo and address. Wix also notes that this automatic local-business markup covers the primary location, not every additional location.

Confirm what is appropriate to publish

Check the actual business model before supplying an address. A public shop and a home-based mobile service are not interchangeable. Do not add a residential address to public markup merely to make a test show fewer warnings. Decide which facts can be public, then choose the appropriate implementation.

Create a small fact sheet: public business name, website, phone, genuine service area, public location where appropriate and logo source. Have the owner approve it. This also helps distinguish a spelling correction from a more substantial change to how the business presents itself.

Inspect existing markup in the SEO settings

Use the homepage’s SEO settings to review its structured-data configuration, following Wix’s current instructions for your editor. Inspect the existing Local Business entry before adding a custom one. If a previous freelancer installed custom markup, ask where it lives and whether it duplicates the preset.

Record the source of each record rather than deleting unfamiliar entries at random. A page may legitimately describe more than one thing. The concern is contradictory or inappropriate information, not the mere presence of several structured-data blocks.

Use a concrete correction request

Here is an illustrative brief: “Our homepage displays our current business name, but the structured record still has the previous name. Update the responsible business setting, preserve the correct phone and URL, and show the published result.” This is more useful than asking someone to add every possible schema property.

If you have several locations, document which page represents each real location and what the platform currently outputs. Agree the scope with the implementer before expecting a homepage preset to represent the entire business accurately.

Check the published result

After the approved change, open the public homepage and test its output. Compare the structured record with the visible business details. Keep the result and any unresolved warnings with the change note. Neither added markup nor a passing test guarantees that a search engine will show an enhanced result.

Your acceptance checklist should answer: are the facts correct, is private information still private, is the intended record present, and can the owner maintain it later? Those are useful deliverables even before search systems revisit the page.
